Bachman Family adds new member

Congratulations to Firefighter Kyle Bachman and his wife Alisha.  Yesterday they ushered into the world their first child, Ayden Drew Bachman.  Mommy and the 7 lb. 3.7 oz, 20 inch long baby are doing very well.  All of the members of the Port Allegany Fire Department are very excited for the Bachman family and can't wait to meet Ayden.
 
God's Country ABATE Donates to PAFD

Last week, a representative of God's Country ABATE stopped by the house to drop off a donation from the organization.  The Star Hose Company No. 1 appreciates the sizable donation very much and would like to wish all of the riders from ABATE a safe journey through God's Country.
 
Ladies Auxiliary Helps Purchase Rescue Equipment

The Star Hose Ladies Auxiliary is helping fund new rescue equipment for the Port Allegany Fire Department.  The group is providing more than $1,000 toward the purchase of rescue harnesses and protective covers for breathing air lines used in confined space and other technical rescues.

According to Fire Chief Fred Roys, firefighters received a grant from the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) in order to purchase ropes, harnesses, and sophisticated communications equipment used to perform technical rescues.

Star Hose gets newest member

Chief Fred Roys and his wife Melissa added another member to our extended roster yesterday with the birth of Bryson Wyatt.  A formidable 8 lbs 5 ozs and 21 inches tall, Bryson and his mother are doing fine.  The entire Star Hose Company Family would like to congratulate Fred, Melissa, and new big brother Tayton!

 
Stand-by Company takes in vehicle fire

The PAFD Engines had just backed into quarters and the crew from Engine 21 was just preparing to leave their stand by assignment when Station 3 was dispatched to 671 Pine Grove Road for a vehicle fire.  Engine 21 responded immediately with 3, followed closely by Engine 33 (Capt. A. Johnson) with 5 and Engine 32 (Lt. A. Johnson) with 4.  Chief 320 (T. Roys) arrived on scene and reported a well involved pick up truck in the roadway.  Engine 21 arrived first and stretched a line, while Engine 33 opened up.  The crews controlled the fire quickly and Engine 32 staged away from the scene to remain in service.  All crews were back in service within 30 minutes.

Garage Fire with Extension in the Borough

Just after 0500 hrs yesterday morning, McKean County 911 received calls reporting a large garage on fire behind 215 East Arnold Avenue in Port Allegany Borough.  Box 0321 was dispatched at 0517hrs, calling Station 3 to work.  Chief 320 (T. Roys) arrived on scene shortly, reported a working garage fire with extension to another garage on Broad Street, and requested a second alarm.  Engine 33 (Lt. A. Johnson) responded quickly with 4 firefighters on the roads covered by 10 inches of new snow.
